The REAL Lovable Losers

Day 2

10,000 losses. That’s right. They’re losingest team in professional sports history, and the first to reach 5 digits in the loss column.

And, of course, they’re my team.

Last night the Philadelphia Phillies reached that ignominious number in phine phashion, phalling 10-2 to the Cardinals. The game phinished in phitting phutility: last year’s NL MVP Ryan Howard struck out.

Yeah, you gotta love ’em. And we still do.

Onward.

And now for something completely different:

My pastor just started a series on the basics of the Christian life. The first couple messages are on the chief goal of this life we believers live, and that is to live it all to God’s glory. So . . .

To God be the glory, great things He has done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

Refrain

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He has done.

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Refrain

Great things He has taught us, great things He has done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

  1. Hey Kate,
    We’re just packing up like crazy now at 10:55 in the morning. Yeah, yesterday Dad and I saw that depressing sight, but we printed off the philly.com page anyway. It’s purty sad ain’t it? Oh well, I can’t wait to see you on Thursday?
    Lufs you, Daniel
