It’s Resurrection Day. The kids sang about God’s mightiness this morning in our church service: “There’s no power greater than the power of our God.” And indeed, today we celebrate the most awesome display of his omnipotence – he raised Jesus from the dead!
A smaller, but still incredible display of his power is happening this weekend in the nest of Jackie and Shadow, our California eagle friends. Yesterday, their first egg hatched, and today the second did. It’s been a joy to watch the eaglets’ birth during this holiday especially – new life to remind me of the new life I have in God’s Son.
I love celebrating Jesus’ resurrection in the spring. The green grass is returning, tiny blue flowers are blooming by the driveway, and soon the trees across the street will be covered in white blossoms. Each of these is God’s gentle reminder that he is continually giving life, and they all point to the eternal life we have as a gift when we believe in the risen Jesus who died for our sins.
Look around your yard. Read John 20. Take a peek in an eagle’s nest. Truly, there’s no greater power than the power of our God.
